The Unit real-time target machine is ideal if you need a small-scale real-time controller or plant simulator with perfect MATLAB & Simulink workflow integration. Rapidly design, test, run, and deploy high-performance controls applications and run smaller-scale plant simulations

Its quad-core Atom processor, a fast SSD for data logging, and the optional IO397 Simulink programmable FPGA option enable you to achieve closed-loop rates approaching 20kHz for applications requiring a smaller set of I/O. The Baseline, Mobile, and Performance real-time target machine provides even faster real-time performance and larger scalability. 

The Unit machine provides a rugged enclosure with passive cooling and supports operating temperature ranges of up to -40 °C to +85 °C.

By default, the Unit real-time target machine provides one host-target link (GbE port), plus one GbE port supporting one of the following functionalities: Real-Time UDP, XCP, TCP/IP, PTP IEEE1588, EtherCAT Master, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, or DNP3.

In addition, it provides one I/O expansion slot for one of the following functionalities: Analog and digital, including PWM, encoder, SPI, I2C and SENT, or serial (RS232/RS422/RS485), or CAN/CAN FD, or industrial protocols such as EtherCAT Slave, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, ModbusTCP, and POWERLINK.

Like all Speedgoat testing systems, it provides unrivaled workflow integration with MATLAB & Simulink.

Achieve demanding sample rates and compute complex applications

Based on the closed-loop sample rate requirement of your application designed with Simulink, this target machine is configured with the best-suited high-performance multi-core CPU and and one optional Simulink programmable FPGA.

Supported I/O connectivity

The Unit real-time target machine can be expanded with one of the following I/O modules:

IO191 Sequential sampling analog I/O module with 8 single-ended or 4 differential inputs, 4 single-ended outputs, and 16 digital I/O lines
IO291 Digital I/O module with 8 isolated digital inputs with up to 48VDC, 8 digital outputs with up to 48V and 1A current, and 8 x digital TTL I/O lines
IO292 Digital I/O module with 24 x digital I/O lines
IO391-IO393 I/O module with configurable TTL or RS422/RS485 I/O functionality, supporting PWM generation and capture, encoder inputs and outputs (quadrature, SSI, EnDat, BISS), SPI, I2C, SENT, and more
IO397 I/O module with programmable FPGA and configurable digital TTL I/O functionality (PWM, encoders, SPI, I2C, SENT, …), plus 4 x single-ended/4 differential analog inputs, and 4 x single-ended analog outputs

Connect the target machine with your hardware, right from Simulink

Delivery of each I/O module includes a Simulink I/O Blockset, enabling you to access and configure I/O functionality rapidly right from Simulink. Delivery always contains a suitable cable and a terminal board.  

Rugged installation

To mount, an optional DIN rail clamping set with two cleats and two lockable clamps is available. 

Maintained for the years to come

Speedgoat & MathWorks continuously improve the real-time testing experience for Speedgoat testing systems, accessible through the latest Speedgoat I/O Blockset and Simulink Real-Time software releases and compatible with the latest MATLAB release. In addition, full service and maintenance extension packages also, including technical support, are available.

A default warranty on the hardware is provided for two years and can be extended to five years. Even after the warranty period, Speedgoat continues to repair systems if anything should break. Drop-in replacement options for minimum downtimes are also available.
