Rugged and compact test system with seamless MATLAB® & Simulink® workflow integration. Ideal for office, lab, field, and in-vehicle use
intro

The Baseline real-time target machine has a compact and rugged design to withstand shock and vibration, making it ideal for rapid control prototyping (RCP) applications in-vehicle / in-the-field or in the lab.

If you need an even more compact test system, consider the Unit real-time target machine. For a system with larger I/O extension capability for field-based RCP, choose the Mobile real-time target machine.

The Baseline test system can also be used for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to simulate plant models. For a more performant test system for the lab, consider the Performance real-time target machine.

The Baseline real-time target machine provides seamless Simulink® workflow integration, and supports MATLAB® R2016a and newer.

Capabilities

Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP)

  • Accelerate control design development by using the test system as a powerful and flexible prototype of your controller in R&D. Use the controller prototype for in-vehicle applications. In addition, use it for small-scale lab/desktop applications. Later in your development process, leverage the test system as an embedded controller.

  • Connect the test system to your physical plant using the same I/O configuration as your future embedded controller.

  • Use MATLAB® and Simulink® to design your control designs and use Simulink® Real-Time™ to deploy the real-time application to the test system. Iterate through designs and monitor their performance. Automate the testing process.

  • Evolve your control designs while keeping part of your controls running on the embedded controller using bypassing. The embedded controller remains part of the test setup while new features are executed on the real-time test system, all perfectly connected and synced.

Choice of Form Factors
This test system is designed to be used in all working environments: from the office to the laboratory to in-vehicle controls, which is why the Baseline real-time target machine comes in two sizes: Small (S) and Medium (M). If preferred, the Baseline real-time target machine is also available as open frame version. It is designed to withstand high levels of shock and vibration, typical for in-vehicle applications.

For the Baseline-M, a modified convection rugged case with fans may be installed for solutions requiring additional heat dissipation.

Desk, Lab, and In-Vehicle Installation

Each Baseline real-time target machine can be pre-configured for in-vehicle installation. In addition, it can also be used for desk/lab placement.

Real-Time Performance

By default, the Baseline real-time target machine comes with a quad core CPU with a 2 GHz clock rate.

For applications or application components requiring sample rates up to the MHz range, you can choose from a selection of Simulink® Programmable FPGAs, also including lowest latency analog and digital I/O connectivity. For higher sample rates, you can choose the Performance real-time target machine.

Within Simulink®, you can define which application components you want to execute on the CPU, and which ones on one or multiple programmable FPGAs, at different sample rates. Also use the configurable I/O modules to configure I/O functionality from within the Simulink® environment.

High Speed Data Logging

Real-time testing frequently requires logging large amounts of data for an extended period of time, analyzed after real-time execution such as with Simulink® Simulation Data Inspector, you can hence choose SSDs with up to 256 GB of size for data logging.
