Speedgoat offers dedicated I/O modules for the measurement and simulation of LVDT, RVDT, Synchro and Resolver sensor signals with Simulink.

To read the sensor measurement data, and also to test potentially damaging or dangerous operational limits and test fault conditions, the I/O modules include a mix of both measurement channels and stimulus outputs.

All I/O modules come with driver blocks for Simulink Real-Time.

About LVDTs

Linear variable differential transformers (LVDT) are electrical transformer sensors to measure linear displacement. Driven by an AC excitation source, the LVDT generates a pair of AC output signals that are modulated according to the mechanical position (displacement) of the core. LVDTs are commonly used for position feedback in servomechanisms, and for automated measurement in machine tools and many other industrial and scientific applications.

About RVDTs

Rotational variable differential transformers (RVDT) are electromechanical transducer sensors providing a variable AC output voltage that is linearly proportional to the angular displacement of its input shaft. When energized with a fixed AC source, the output signal is linear within a specified range over the angular displacement.

About Synchros and Resolvers

Synchros are a type of transformer often used to measure the angle of a rotating machine. The coupling of the primary and secondary windings of the transformer varies as the rotor is turned, enabling the angle to be determined by applying an excitation current to the primary coil and reading back the relative magnitudes of the secondary currents.

Resolver sensors are electromagnetic transducers mostly used in powertrains for electric vehicles or industrial and heavy-duty applications to determine the position and velocity of electric motors.
